Weighing the Cost Most people put off the necessity for correcting anything they cannot see with their naked eye. Unfortunately, with indoor air quality that can be the worst thing to do. The most important thing of concern is health because this is what will be lost in a home with poor indoor air and it is not even realized until it is gone. The health costs for someone affected by indoor air quality will far outweigh any cost that will be entailed in correcting the air quality problem. Moreover, those health costs could be long-term if children are involved. Children and individuals with chronic health issues are always more affected by things that normally would not affect a completely healthy individual. Their immune system cannot fight off infection or the toxic effects of contaminants. In addition, the allergens in the air cause the greatest problem to children under five and the elderly. Allergens can stay in the air for days once they are airborne. There are different ways of correcting air quality problems in a home and most of these are simple and inexpensive. Too, if there is water damage causing the mold growth homeowner's insurance will sometimes covers the cost of repair. Time is the most important thing to consider. It will take time to do the testing and get the results. It will take time to carry out the remediations if any are needed. Any problem that exists will only worsen and should be addressed as soon as possible. [[back to top]] | |||||||
